Hir a Thoddaid Notes

Jezzie G

The Hir A Thoddaid is a Welsh poetry form. It is a 6-line stanza form. Lines 1-4 and 6 consist of 9-syllables and line 5 has 10-syllables. Lines 1-4 and 6 share an end rhyme. An internal rhyme falls near the end of line 5 and somewhere in the first half of line 6. This gives the following structure:

Raven’s Wings by Jezzie G

As the magical dreams begin their flight
In the darkness the world of inner sight
With visions shining like the moon tonight
The Raven finds his wings of love once more
In the dark, she sings and sends him light
