A ‘Sonnet’ for a Modern Man
English Sonnet
He's Mr. 21stC man
who likes poems to read in high tech spiel
in words evolving from an ancient land
old fashioned ways like mine are just unreal.
In that case meter is also old hat
and I should write in the new age txt spk
let the rhyme be slant and make it a rap
throw love to one side, is this what you seek?
The modern sonnet should still hold its style
echo the rhythms of love in a song
serenade the heart with a lover's smile
and so resist the urge to join the throng.
No meter, slacking rhyme does it matter?
Maybe not so I will CUL8R
