Fair Exchange
Form: Spenserian Sonnet
I gave my heart to love in fair exchange
For I have hold of his within in my hand
It's early days and feels a little strange
Yet by his side my heart must duly stand.
This gift of love the way the fates have planned
His love in me keeps him and me as one
My heart in him makes no other demand
Than that of love until all time is done.
For I will feel his heartbeat like the sun
That burns my skin upon a summer's day
To ease his pain when life has lost its fun
For he is love, that so wondrous bliss
I give him my heart in exchange for his.
