Short Measure Notes

A variation of the Common Measure form, Short Measure consists of three lines of iambic trimeter, and a third line in iambic tetrameter. Including the rhyme scheme this gives the following pattern

To water down a drink
is sometimes a request;
yet what a waste, I often think
when strongest form is best.

To savor every sip
becomes a long life goal.
For quality, one mustn’t skip
elixir for the soul.

Short measure does add up,
as threes, one four, complete,
so if or when you pour a cup,
make sure that mine is neat
