A neglected yet beautiful poetic form the Rondel is a thirteen-line form constructed over two rhymes. There is also a refrain, which is set by the first two lines of the first stanza. The meter is open to the poet’s discretion but like most French poetry forms is usually eight-syllable lines.
The rhyme scheme is ABab abAB abbaA
