Form: French Sonnet
The winter calls as the day ends
With twilight chasing autumn sky
And the sun sinks from viewing eye
As amber beams where the road wends
Glowing candle flame softly bends
Across the room to where we lie
Embraced within love’s warming sigh
A sweet good-night our kissing lends
In dark silence the night shall keep
The hours of dreaming as we sleep
As the moon treads on evening fires
She watches the embers fade out
And while we sleep she stays about
Until at dawn she too retires
