Waiting Patiently

Form: Italian Sonnet

Should I consider how my heart is spent
When half my days and nights are spent alone
Yet there’s one love which sings my heart’s tone
That brings me out of this my sad lament
To love her now, is my solemn intent
No matter where she is or where I’ve flown
The seeds of love how they have surely grown
In time and distance our love is present
The only gift I can give is my heart
As tattered and torn as a heart may be
It is hers, there’s nothing more I can do
But wait alone in this time spent apart
Until our lips meet again to love free
Her murmured kiss replies ‘Yes, I love you’
