I Forgot the Daffodils

Form: Cavatina

When a bumblebee meets dandelion
The bird will sing
Canary songs beneath the Tuscan sun
It’s quite a thing
To hear and I’m sure the bumblebee smiles
While on the wing
And dusting pollen about as he goes
Where he’s going, well now, nobody knows

Back at home making a cornbread sandwich
Feeling mellow
The golden butter spreads ready for ham
It’s bedfellow
Of Dijon mustard mixed with mayonnaise
Writing yellow
In different shades and mixing the hues
While a cello softly sings old-time blues
