The Daffy Ball

Form: Brisbane Sonnet

As seasons turn I see them dance again
In their gowns of gold for St David’s Day
And daffodils call for springtime sun
To rise and break the fall of winter’s rain
And hasten the Equinox on its way
On this, daffodils will not be undone
Their dance is short yet brings my heart delight
As on the breeze I think I hear them sing
Of trees in bud and they will blossom soon
For soon my daffodils will say good night
I look forward to the quickening spring
In the silver light of the vernal moon
And I’ll take your hand to say ‘I love you’
As lunar rays create sweet pearls of dew
