Form: Brisbane Sonnet
The holiest of days the autumn night
When ancestors come and we close the year
While children play their game of trick or treat
The neighbourhood stands back in pretend fright
I stand alone with those I still hold dear
The stream that flows we feel the year complete
This holiest of nights let winter start
The flames of fire to carry my desire
In swirls of woody smoke my love sets sail
Once more are spirits join to share one heart
This night is ours again our souls conspire
So, brief our time at the lowering veil
For soon it must ascend and you must leave
Again, my tears fall, how long must I grieve?
