Form: Blues Sonnet
The lake’s once gentle ripples stir
Uneasy slumber rouse and stir
The moonlit sky begins to blur
And clouds gather to kiss the stars
As wild winds gust beneath the stars
A stormy night for Earth’s memoirs
The winds well up throughout the night
The tallest trees bending tonight
And some will break before daylight
Up comes a gale to steal a soul
In morning rain that whips the soul
Still Mother Earth must take the toll
Debris remains where the winds sweep
She has no time to sit and weep
