Hallowed Be Their Names

Form: Blank Verse

Reflecting thoughts as night falls into dark
As shards of light come from the Mother Moon
Like visitations from the spirits past
Reminders of the pain of sacrifice
And we light the fires with no wish to kill
Yet still we remember the burning times
Recalling names of souls murdered by flame
Our faith tortured in the name of their god
Those spirits of old still kindle our hearts
Embracing our lives with an ancient love
That can’t be destroyed by the fire and lies
As we remember them in words of song
For on this night so hallowed be their names
