Form: Australian Sonnet
Before the sun rises, I am awake
To worry about the things I can’t change
Or nothing at all amid all things strange
I write them down as thoughts I cannot shake
Then make some tea as the Earth greets the sun
And from the garden watch the misty dawn
Then sip my tea as I stifle a yawn
I guess my sleeping is not yet done
So once again I make my way to bed
And close my eyes for just an hour or two
Before I face the list of things to do
Releasing the thoughts I held in my head
On paper begins a fresh writing day
My rhythm of life and it’s here to stay
