Form: Australian Sonnet
Here I can find the peace of mind and soul
A silent reminder of being one
With them; a child of Earth, I am her son
And in this quiet place I dig a hole
A sapling of oak I shall never see
The beauty of it when its fully grown
For like me the tree may seem stand alone
But Mother Earth holds us both, it and me
She nurtures us like babes upon the breast
Yet our eyes are turned to the gods on high
Above the clouds that drift across the sky
It is with the Earth that our roots are pressed
Now as I walk among my brothers here
I feel her love is now forever near
